Trail 1 - Lago Nero

Discovering the beauties of the Black Lake
An excursion of great impact that will allow you to reach one of the most characteristic places of the Pistoia Apennines. The first part of the route (up to Lago Nero) is perfectly suited to outings for the whole family. In winter, when the snow covers the peaks of Abetone, this first section is used for wonderful snowshoeing.

Trail 2 - Il passo di Annibale

From the Val di Luce on the Strada del Duca up to the Passo d'Annibale Path that does not present technical difficulties (most of the route takes place on a dirt road) and which allows you to arrive in one of the most fascinating points of the Apennines. From Passo d'Annibale you dominate the Val di Luce and you can admire the main peaks: Monte Rondinaio and Monte Giovo on one side and Monte Gomito and Dente della Vecchia on the other form a truly incredible landscape frame. In early autumn, the blueberry groves turn the slopes red, making this walk even more fascinating.

trail 4 - Il Libro Aperto

Climbing through the pages of Libro Aperto
Technically not demanding excursion but which requires good training in consideration of the altitude difference faced in the second part of the route. It is important to remember that climate change can be extremely sudden in this area, so it is recommended to always be well equipped.

Trail 6 - Il Lago Scaffaiolo

Short and not very demanding excursion both technically and in terms of height difference (to make it even easier it is possible to reach the Croce Arcana by car instead of starting from the Doganaccia). Scaffaiolo Lake is a place around which a magical atmosphere is created. Glimpses of light, sunsets and panoramas as far as the eye can see can suddenly emerge from the thick fog that sometimes envelops this stretch of ridge. The Duca degli Abruzzi refuge - which is located next to the lake - can be used as a stopping point for other excursions along the ridges or to the nearby Dardagna waterfalls.

Trail 8 - Anello del Maiori

At the base of Libro Aperto Non-binding walk that leads from Piazza dell'Abetone up to the slopes of the Libro Aperto (the apex of the ring arrives near the Casetta di Lapo). The slightly undulating route crosses fir and beech woods of the Abetone Forest Reserve offering views of the peaks of the Open Book and part of the Pistoia and Modena Apennine ridge.

Trail 11 - La Riserva Biogenetica di Pian degli Ontani

Among secular beech trees in search of tranquillity. The route takes place entirely on the forest road that crosses the Biogenetic Reserve and therefore does not present any difficulties from a technical point of view. Trail 12 - From Pian degli Ontani to Pian di Novello

A path that crosses the two countries through beautiful woods A variegated route which, starting from Pian degli Ontani, climbs up to the forest road inside the splendid beech forest of the Biogenetic Reserve. Continuing inside this imposing wood until you reach Pian di Novello and via a quick descent along the Sestaione stream you reach Pian degli Ontani again.

From Pracchia to Abetone...


a march that crosses the entire ridge, a path full of emotion but extremely hard with an impressive amount of ups and downs passing through the most beautiful ridges of the Apennines. Along the climb you come across all types of vegetation typical of the Apennines and you cross places with particular and significant toponyms: the Pedata del Diavolo, the Poggio del Ronco are just some of the points. ...to then reach the Poggio dei Malandrini where the whole world changes shape Finally, the ridge is a succession of paths, lawns and challenging crossings where you need to pay the utmost attention. There are times when it's really difficult to choose where to direct your gaze.
